harmon.ie Automation — FAQ

No. Automation can run in the New harmon.ie add-in, which needs to stay open while it works. The desktop app is highly recommended, as it runs automation in the background for more consistent capture.
When you set a rule, harmon.ie starts saving new emails as they arrive in your inbox. Emails that were already in your inbox can still be saved manually.

Attachments are saved embedded in the email.

harmon.ie adds an Outlook category to saved emails that shows whether the email was saved, or whether there was an error when trying to save it automatically. This requires admin consent and a user setting to enable categories, found under Advanced > Apply categories to saved emails.
Yes. You can set two or more rules to save the same email into different locations.

When automation saves an email, harmon.ie reads the email headers — To, From, Subject, Date, and whether it has attachments — and writes them into SharePoint metadata columns. 

For conversation saving rules where the destination requires metadata that only a person can provide, harmon.ie does not interrupt you on every email. The first time you save an email to that location, you are prompted to fill in the required fields. The rest of that conversation then reuses the values you supplied, so following replies are captured automatically without prompting you again.
Yes. Automation is available to trial users as well as licensed customers.
